Last weekend, we had the pleasure of vending at Sneaker Con NYC 2014, the self proclaimed “Greatest Sneaker Show” on Earth.
It truly was an experience like no other. Collectors and connoisseurs of fine sneakers & fashion came from all over the country to be apart of the pre-holiday festivities in New York City. We partnered with our friends from Creative Players to vend at the event. As always, we brought out several exclusive vintage pieces available no where else in the world, including our Michael Jordan Authentic White Sox Jersey and Snoop Dogg “Gin And Juice” Pittsburgh Penguins jersey.
All in all, it was a huge success. A big thank you goes out to everyone who stopped by and shopped with us; our team was able to network with many of the 350+ vendors and 10,000+ attendees. Check out some of the photos below and Hypebeast recap we were also featured in!
Thanks again to our friends from Refresh PGH for making the trip out from Pittsburgh to check out our table.

The event was hosted by our good friends over at Refresh PGH and took place at Obama High School in Pittsburgh, PA. Over 1,100 sneaker heads came out and attended the second annual convention along with 75+ vendors and a few special guests!
We had a great time vending and chatting with everyone who stopped by our booth. It’s always great to interact with the vintage fans out there. A big thank you goes out to everyone who also made a purchase from Rare VNTG at the event, we appreciate your business and hope you enjoy! Thanks again to everyone over at Refresh PGH for hosting the event and making it a huge success. Look out for Rare VNTG at the next Refresh PGH Sneaker convention coming soon.
Are Supreme and Nike are back at it again?
Today marks the first drop of the Supreme New York Fall/Winter 2014 season and pictures have already surfaced depicting a Supreme x Nike AF1 high in black and white. The sneakers are decked out with “World Famous” and “94” on the back heel tab (1994 was the year Supreme first opened). After the chaos of last years Supreme x Nike Foamposite one, I can see hype beasts grabbing their chairs and tents now!
Do you think the photos are legit? With these two street wear giants collaborate on yet another sneaker? Only time will tell! Thanks to @korange_market for the photos.
After a successful venture at February’s Winter Shoe Expo, Rare Vintage Wear will be returning to Pittsburgh May 24th for Refresh PGH’s Spring Sneaker Swap! Im extremely excited to return to the Steel City; I will bringing out a bunch of heat including a plethora of vintage Champion NBA jerseys, Hockey Jerseys, Starter Jackets, snapbacks, and more!
The event is scheduled for May 24th 2014 at Pittsburgh Obama/Peabody High School located on 515 N. Highland Ave. Refresh PGH’s last event drew over 100 vendors and a crowd of 1,200+!! If you’re located in the Pittsburgh area, or anywhere remotely close come check it out!
A major shout out goes to the Refresh PGH crew for opening the first sneaker consignment store in Pittsburgh! Look for some big things and collaborations between us in the future!
Yesterday Nike Skateboarding finally confirmed a several-year-old rumor old by releasing a photo of P-Rod that introduced a collab between Nike SB and Air Jordan. The duo will be releasing a set of Air Jordan 1 x Nike SB sneakers designed by Craig Stecyk and Lance Mountain.
Many skaters remember the popularity of the original Air Jordan 1 during the mid to late 80’s. Images of Lance Mountain skating in the AJ1 are embedded in Skateboarding history.
For 2014, Nike SB reintroduces the classic Air Jordan model in an updated form. The first Nike SB x AJ1 comes in iridescent green and was designed by Craig Stecyk. The sneaker draws inspiration from Stecyk’s “Northwest Passage” Art Gallery showing during the late 80’s.
The sneakers are set to release March 15th at select Nike SB retailers. A second Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 designed by Lance Mountain is also due to drop in 2014; stay with us for details.
On 1/18, Rare Vintage Wear (with the help of few close friends) invaded the 2014 Refresh PGH Winter Shoe Expo with loads of vintage clothing, jerseys, hats, and collectables. The event was a HUGE success; we would like to thank everyone from the Refresh Pittsburgh team for hosting the event and of course, everyone who came out and supported Rare Vintage Wear!
The event boosted 50+ vendors and by the end of the day, over 1,200 Pittsburgh area sneakerheads paraded through the Irish Center sporting their favorite sneakers. Rare Vintage Wear had a birds-eye view of the event from our location on-stage, and let me tell you it was JAM PACKED!
Many customers enjoyed RVW’s large variety of vintage Champion NBA jerseys, along with our vintage Starter and North Face jackets. Our custom Vintage Chicago Blackhawks Starter jacket was the talk of the town, and quickly found a new home along with the extremely popular Charlotte Hornets satin jacket.
All in all, the weekend was a huge success! We met a lot of great people and networked with some other great up-and-coming brands. Take a look at the photo gallery below and look out for future collaborations between Rare Vintage Wear and Refresh PGH!
We want to send a special shout out to Refresh PGH Check out their website and follow them on social media @refreshPGH! Also a special thanks to Stephanie (@stephawaho0) for holding it down with the camera and the homies Frank (@instafitch), Declan, Ben, Steve, Devin and Cam for helping me vend all damn day.
It’s hard to believe Michael Jordan won his first NBA Title about 25 years ago. MJ laced up his trusty Air Jordan 6’s and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in only 5 games. This would serve as the cornerstone in a run of three straight championships for Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
This summer, Nike will honor Jordan’s first NBA Championship with the Air Jordan 6 Retro “Championship Cigar” edition. It is common knowledge that MJ would spark up a choice cigar after each and every NBA Championship win. The sneakers are made to look like a cigar, decked out in premium leather and even feature a replica championship ring. A must have for fans of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. They are set to drop this summer, stay with us as more release information drops, and thanks to @kicksordie for the photos!
HEADS UP PHILLY! Happy to announce Rare Vintage Wear will be setting up shop this Sunday at Solexchange Philadelphia. I’ll be vending alongside my good friends at Creative Player$ ! With the 2014 NBA All Star Game about two weeks away, Nike took the liberty of unveiling Lebron James, Kevin Durant, and Kobe Bryant’s kicks for the game in New Orleans.
The “Gumbo League Collection” draws heavy inspiration from New Orleans history. Each sneaker represents a significant part of the cities unique culture. The Lebron 11 “Gator King” pays homage to the Gator, a symbol of royalty power and protection within the city.
It’s no secret Kobe Bryant is a huge jazz fan; The Kobe 9 Elite “Maestro” edition represents the long history of Jazz music in New Orleans.
Finally, the Zoom KD 6 “Illusion” is a nod to the voodoo and magic culture within New Orleans.
The whole pack is set to release on 2/14. Expect it to sell out FAST!
This Spring, Air Jordan is set to celebrate Michael Jordan’s time as a minor league baseball player for the Birmingham Barons with a unique sneaker release. Check out the Air Jordan IX Retro Birmingham Barons edition. Decked out in the old Chicago White Sox affiliate’s colors. The sneaker is set to release this April 5th for $170 at Jordan retailers.
Like it or not, Lebron James retro sneakers are on the way! Sure nothings been confirmed yet but I see what our friends over at Nike have up their sleeve.
While on a recent road-trip to play the Knicks and Nets in New York City, Lebron busted out two never-before-seen colorways of his famous signature sneakers. The most interested part being that the kicks were the Nike Zoom Lebron II and III respectively (two sneakers that dropped in 2005 and 2006!)
Look closely at the sneakers, I mean very closely! You’ll notice Lebron’s new logo “LJ” on the heel of the 3’s and strap of the 2’s. The original model of both sneakers featured Lebron’s “L23″ logo.
Are these sneakers are just a prelude to the Lebron Retro line? I say yes! With Kobe’s already being retroed, its safe to say we’ll see a Lebron retro in the very near future. The Kings popularity is already at an all time high and the hype surrounding sneakers is as well. Nike would be smart to cash in on the oppurtunity now.
Well wait, didn’t we already see an Air Zoom Generation retro? No, the sneakers below were rumored to release around 2008 but never saw shelves. Older sneakerheads will remember they did hit Nike.com for a second but were quickly scrapped.
At this point, we’ll have to wait and let Nike make the next move reguarding a Lebron retro sneaker.
